What can I expect from my consultation?

Before you meet Dr. Chaudhari, your medical and surgical history, medications, and aesthetic goals will be discussed with Dr. Chaudhari’s assistant. Then you will have a one-on-one consultation with Dr. Chaudhari, who will examine you, discuss your treatment options, educate you using pictures, diagrams, 3D simulations, and/or videos, and give his recommendations to address your aesthetic goals.

What are my payment options?

Our office offers several different payment options, including cash/credit cards, cashier’s checks and medical financing using Care Credit. All payments for surgery must be made in full to our office at least 2 weeks before your surgery date.

How long will my recovery be?

For minor office procedures and facial aesthetic procedures, you can expect bruising and swelling to last about 3 to 7 days. Most patients are able to return to work in about 3 days with some light make-up. Complete resolution of bruising and swelling occurs in 2 weeks. Pain is usually minimal and handled with Motrin and/or Tylenol.

For breast procedures, you can can expect bruising and swelling to last about 3 to 7 days. All patients should wear their post-op surgical bra for the first 2 weeks to provide the necessary support during this crucial period of healing. Complete resolution of bruising and swelling occurs in 2 weeks. Pain is usually moderate and is handled with narcotics like Tylenol with Codeine or Vicodin.

For major abdominal contouring procedures like tummy tucks and body lifts, you can expect bruising and swelling to last about 7 to 14 days. All patients should wear their post-op surgical garments for 4 to 6 weeks to provide the necessary compression during this period of healing. Complete resolution of bruising and swelling occurs in 2 weeks. All body contouring patients will get an On-Q pain pump to go home with that will deliver a local anesthetic to the surgical site automatically for 6 days. Pain is usually moderate and is handled with narcotics like Tylenol with Codeine or Vicodin.

Will I need medications after surgery?

For minor office procedures, most patients will not need any antibiotics and will only require Motrin or Tylenol to manage their pain.

For major operative procedures, most patients will get post-operative narcotics, like Tylenol with Codeine or Vicodin, along with an oral antibiotic for 5 days to reduce the risk of surgical site infections.

When will my first post-op visit be?

For most surgical procedures, Dr. Chaudhari prefers to see his patients within 2 or 3 days of surgery. Patients are instructed to keep all surgical dressings and garments clean, dry, and intact until that first post-operative visit, at which time Dr. Chaudhari will remove the dressings personally to ensure the best post-operative result.

How can I reduce my scars?

Most patients are asked to keep their surgical dressings clean, dry, and intact until the first post-operative visit, and will then be asked to maintain some coverage of the surgical incisions for the next several days. After two weeks, Dr. Chaudhari usually recommends scar reduction with topical silicone gel, called Biocorneum, which is applied twice daily for 12 weeks. Some scars that become reddened may benefit from broad-band light treatment to minimize the redness that can lead to a thickened scar. If the surgical scar becomes thicker or harder than expected, Dr. Chaudhari may decide to inject the scar with a steroid solution.
