For most surgical procedures, Dr. Chaudhari prefers to see his patients within 2 or 3 days of surgery. After two weeks, Dr. Chaudhari usually recommends scar reduction with topical silicone gel, called Biocorneum, which is applied twice daily for 12 weeks. Some scars that become reddened may benefit from broad-band light treatment to minimize the redness that can lead to a thickened scar. If the surgical scar becomes thicker or harder than expected, Dr. Chaudhari may decide to inject the scar with a steroid solution.
